Pete’s Coffee Bar

pict00321.JPGThe coffee bar was the brainchild of Pete Laxton who through his devotion saw this event go from strength to strength over the years.

Pete was determined to serve his local community from driving for Christian Aid or just serving people at the coffee morning.

Pete spent many a long day just turning up to serve coffee when no one came. But he did not give up as he was convinced that people would come. After at least 2 years Pete finally saw some progress. Then the coffee morning really took off, in fact if you did not get in before 11.30 you were not guaranteed a seat.

Sadly Pete passed away suddenly on 26th June 2007. Pete’s passion was to serve the community, the coffee bar was one of those areas where this was demonstrated. The name ‘Pete’s Coffee Bar’ will continue as a fitting tribute to Pete’s long love and devotion to the people of Narborough & Littlethorpe. Pete is pictured here with his wife Viv on the gate at ‘Party on the Park’ 2006.
